High and Low (1963) | Garden Goes Global

The Garden is going global! Join us for an incredible weekend featuring some of the best classic films from around the world. Running Friday, Oct. 10th - Sunday, Oct. 12th, we will be featuring films from 9 different countries. This inaugural weekend of international films includes beloved foreign classics like PLAYTIME, BICYCLE THIEVES, and METROPOLIS to rarely screened gems like Argentinian noir, NEVER OPEN THAT DOOR, or the West African satire, XALA.

The festival continues on Saturday October 11th with Kurosawa's HIGH AND LOW. 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 at princetongardentheatre.org/global

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: Starring Toshirô Mifune in one of his most unforgettable leading roles as a wealthy industrialist whose family becomes the target of a cold-blooded kidnapper. Akira Kurosawa’s highly influential HIGH AND LOW is a compelling race-against-time thriller that acts as a penetrating portrait of class dynamics within contemporary Japanese society. Considered by many to be Kurosawa’s defining film, we will be presenting HIGH AND LOW in a brand new restoration. In Japanese w/ subtitles.
